Grandparents hold a special place in a child’s life. I have seen that in the relationship Pranay shares with his grandparents. They play as friends and enjoy each other’s company, completely ignoring anyone else in the room. But, from the past 3 months, Pranay was missing them terribly as they had gone back to their hometown.
However, this Saturday our elderly neighbor (we call him uncle) came to our house hearing Pranay’s voice. All these days, Pranay used to wish him, but nothing more. But that day, uncle insisted on taking Pranay to his home. I have never left Pranay in other’s house alone, so I accompanied them. Aunty (uncle’s wife) was busy cooking and Pranay took some time to get used to the place. Within 10 minutes, he was running around the house and then he settled down to play with uncle. He completely ignored me and uncle asked me to finish my work at home and come back later to take Pranay home.
When I returned after 30 minutes, all 3 of them were laughing and playing together. It just reminded me of the days when Pranay used to play with his grandparents at home. This time, Pranay cried while returning home with me as he wanted to be with them.
I am thankful to God for giving us such lovely neighbors who make Pranay feel special.
